Voted Best New BYOB by Philadelphia Magazine in 2005, Marigold Kitchen serves modern American cuisine in the century-old surroundings of University City. Nestled on a quiet, tree-lined block of Victorian houses, Marigold has been providing hospitality for more than 70 years since the first customers were served at the Marigold Tea Room in 1934.
Marigold Kitchen serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are encouraged.
Erin O'Shea
Executive Chef Erin O’Shea takes the reins at Marigold Kitchen in January 2008. She has been sous chef at Marigold since moving to Philadelphia in 2006 to work under current Executive Chef Michael Solomonov. Before her arrival, Erin worked in Richmond, VA, training with legendary Southern chef and restaurateur Jimmy Sneed at The Frog & The Red Neck, named one of the country’s best restaurants by Esquire magazine. Chef Sneed served as Erin’s mentor for three years and instilled in her a love of Southern cuisine.
Michael Solomonov
Chef Michael Solomonov was born in G'nei Yehudah, Israel and was raised in Pittsburgh. Prior to joining Marigold Kitchen in Fall of 2005, Michael was the sous chef at Vetri, a nationally-acclaimed Philadelphia restaurant. Prior to Vetri, Michael cooked under Chef Terrance Feury at Striped Bass and Chef Patrick Feury at Avenue B. Michael is a graduate of the Florida Culinary Institute in West Palm Beach.
Steven Cook
Prior to opening Marigold Kitchen in October 2004, Steven Cook worked under Chef Vernon Morales at Salt Restaurant on Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square. Prior to Salt, Steven cooked at Twenty Manning under Chef Kiong Banh. Steven is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the French Culinary Institute.
